Any stress to my body like a cold or a fever or even being in the sun too long will activate a cold sore on my lips. I usually get two in a row. I wonder if your ';injuries'; are cold sores...it certainly sounds like it. Look it up if you are not sure. It is a virus and lays dormant until you have a stress like a fever or a cold and then it can pop up. Some of my cold sores (also called fever blisters) have left scars. I don't get so many any more but I used to get about 2 episodes a year when I was a teenager. There are ointments out there that can keep your cold sore to a minimum. One good one is Abreeva and you put it on as soon as you first notice the tingle sensation on your lip.I always hav injuries on my lips after sickness which leaves a mark on my lips. it sounds like you have ';cold sores';. Abreeva works wonders- you can buy it over the counter at any drug store. It is about 20 dollars for a small tube but believe me, it is worth and and that tube will last FOREVER... it only takes a small amount. I carry it in my change purse and whenever I feel one coming on, I put it on immediately and it goes away.
