Help! my lips are always chapped and dry and cracked! i use chapstick and vaseline but that only helps a lil?

ive tried drinking water a lot but that didnt help either. what can i do?Help! my lips are always chapped and dry and cracked! i use chapstick and vaseline but that only helps a lil?
Do you suffer from any allergies or sinuses causing you to be a mouth breather? This could dry out your lips. If not, stop using the Chapstick, or any other kind of balm other than Vaseline. Perhaps you are allergic to the Salicylic Acid. This stuff has not been approved by the FDA to be used on the lips, but lip product manufacturers use it. Sometimes, it can cause chapping. Now, you may want to go to your health care provider and ask for Hydrocortisone 1% (strongest you can get). This applied daily should take care of your chapped lips. However, you and your health care provider need to evaluate the causes of your chapped lips to prevent it from happening again of this severity. Good luck.Help! my lips are always chapped and dry and cracked! i use chapstick and vaseline but that only helps a lil?
Try Eucren it really works well for chapped lips. It's good for hands too.
Ive never had a problem w/ it myself but one of my exs used to get that real bad aswell, she swore by burts bees wax, it comes in a little (yellow?) tin and has a picture of an old guy w/ a beard on it or sometimes just the name (since i think ol' burt skeeves out some ppl lol) ne way try that it really did work miracles for her =)
quit sucking DICK
it could be an internal thing like dehydration drink more water
Most likely it's a dietary problem. Aside from really hydrating yourself with plenty of fluids and watching your sodium intake, you should take an Omega-3 supplement such as flax oil or fish oil. This will assure your proper amounts of the healthy fats that we need in our diet.
Just keep doin what ur doin
blistex works for me
my brother had the same problem. then he started using blistex and his lips started getting better. it got to the point he doesn't need it anymore.
Chapped Lips

Most of us believe that getting chapped lips is purely a problem of the weather. The cold weather or the wind causes chapping

of the lips and a good moisturizer will treat the chapping and bring lips back to the earlier look. Chapping may cause

problems. Chapping is not only a cosmetic problem, but it also causes problem in eating too. Lips may hurt if they get cracked and blood comes out of those cracks. Is chapping of lips only because of change of weather? No, many skin diseases and drugs may cause it. Learn more to keep your kisses beautiful.

Lips- How the lip skin is different?

Lips do not have sebaceous glands. Lips also do not have any sweat glands. The dead layer on the epidermis of lip skin is

much thinner compared to body skin. Because of absence of sebaceous glands, lips are not protected by the sebum. The thin

dead layer also makes them more susceptible to damage from weather and other factors.

Chapped Lips- Reasons

Weather is one of the main reasons. The cold weather dries the lips. Similarly if the air is short of humidity as happens in

air conditioned areas, or heated ares, lips lose moisture. This loss of moisture chaps the lips. Wind can also chap the lips. If you walk out on windy days without protecting your lips, you may get chapped lips.

Other reasons of chapped lips are-

Vitamin A:

Please look at your medicines? Are you taking more than required amount of vitamin A? Are you using any skin care product containing retinoids, on lips? That may be one cause of chapped lips. Vitamin A in excess, peels and dries the skin.

Diseases:

Psoriasis and lichen planus can create chapped lips. The lips may get affected by these diseases and unless you treat the cause, the chapped look will not go.

Candida infection may chap the lips at the corners. You will have to talk to your doctor and find out the cause of the cracks

at the corners. Cracks at the corners of the lips may also form due to saliva and allergies.

You may be allergic to lip care products. You may also be having contact allergy to some foods, which may cause allergic

contact dermatitis on your lips. Some medications may be causing chapped lips. Talk to your doctor about that. Other reasons may be allergy to candies, flavors, etc. Chapping may be because of allergies, side-effects of medications or skin problems. Take care of these and protect your lips in cold weather and dry air.
Try Chap Stick with moisturiser. Check out http://www.chapstick.com/moisturizer/ind鈥?/a> for pictures and more info.
Carmex
Try medicated Blistex. My sister gets terrible chapped lips, and it's the only thing that helps her.

My favorite chapstick (for maintenance, not healing) has almond oil and avocado in it. It's actually German, but those ingredients are good to look for. You seem to need something more heavy duty, so I'd definitely try Blistex. Not the chapstick though, the one in the tube!

The reason chapstick isn't helping is that your lips are probably too bad for just plain old beeswax or whatever you use.
find a lip chap that has parrafin in it, its a type of wax that seals in moisture.
I use moisturizing cream each night before I go to bed...
Normally, coconut milk will help soothe chapped lips but you have to drink 8 glasses of water everyday. Take vitamin E as well as find a chapstick that has vitamin E in it. Vaseline for Extra dry skin will also help.
I think you should consult a dermatologist. You may have extremely dry skin in which case he/she may be able to recommend an alternative to vaseline/chapstick.
Chapped lips can have several causes, including dry weather, overexposure to the sun, lip biting and sucking and riboflavin (vitamin B-2) deficiencies.

1. Apply lip balm or petroleum jelly. You can also try coating your lips with skin moisturizer, vitamin E oil or aloe vera gel. These greasy products help keep your lips properly moisturized.

2. Use lip balm that contains sunblock if you are going to be outside.

3. Avoid licking your lips, since the saliva will evaporate and leave them dry.

4. Drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration.

5. Consider moistening the air in your home with a humidifier.

6. Keep in mind that cracks at the corners of your mouth can indicate riboflavin deficiencies; you can treat this with vitamin B-2 supplements.

7. Have a dentist readjust ill-fitting dentures if you believe they might be the cause of your chapped lips.
stop smoking crack
dont worry. you just apply coconut oil in your lips before going to bed. do htis for a week or two, that's enough.
try exfoliating ur lips before using chapstick. and use one specifically for dry or chapped lips
Do you have a habit of licking your lips alot? That might be a contribution to the prob.
Every nite before you go to bed, put vaseline on your lips and they will always be soft.
put a lot of vaseline on you lips at bed time. If you wake in the night drink water and put on more vaseline.
