I'm on a medicine that gives me really chapped lips. They were okay for a while when I just used a substance called Aquaphor, but now they are really really chapped and they are cracking. Are there any really good home remediesI have really chapped and cracked lips....?

Avoid buying those generic brand chapsticks - they are cheap for a reason.
When buying lip balm, look at the ingredients list and look for things such as: castor seed oil, aloe vera, any seed oils, etc.
Take some chapstick and pass it on your lips and gently massage them with your toothbrush - this will remove dead skin cells and increase blood circulation.
You can also try making a lip exfoliator out of grained brown sugar and olive oil. Pass it on your lips and leave it for a few minutes, then remove it with a terry cloth and repeat. This should soothe them and make them smooth and soft.

for now, put some peroxide on your lips before you go to bed (just once or twice). don't lick your lips. keep on drinking lots of water. use a palm oil + shea butter mix on your lips whenever it feels dry. if you have cracks at the corners of your lips drink more milk and eat more carrots too.

Mostly, it is based on genetics, it doesn't have anything to do with race because traits and features aren't exclusive to just one race. There are a lot of Caucasian, Hispanic, and Asian women who have full lips as well, while some black people have thin lips. It just depends on your particular genetics not race.
My best bet would be on Genetics. You know passed down from generation, to generation....

I pick at my lips all the time..sometimes until they bleed a little. It's a nervous habit i picked up back in 5th grade. I can't stand when there is little pieces of skin, I have to pick them off. i've tried lip gloss and lipstick, but it usually makes my lips dryer than before, which creates more skin flakes. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can break this habit?Does anyone else pick at their lips?

You have to redirect this by whenever you notice yourself doing it put a stop to it then. Grab some gum or candy or call up a friend and tell her your problem. Starting writing your thoughts down and if you have to chew gum at the same time. However don't chew to much sugar you don't want another problem.. cavities! Switch it up btwn sugar and non. Good luck to you. If you still have a problem after a couple of weeks you may want to see your doc. for some further help.Does anyone else pick at their lips?

Then if you realize that you haven't put money in over a weeks time.... go take the $ and reward yourself w/ something.

I just went to a newborn class this weekend ( im 35 wks preggy) and they mentioned that NEWBORN babies skin, lips, etc can be dry and flaky! Its ok, and its normal. Doubt that petroleum jelly would hurt the baby much, but tell your friend that dry skin is completely normal and she does not have to do anything right now! My friend has a 2 week old child and was wondering if its safe to use lanolin for her kids chapped lips,?
I would not use it. Lanolin is a wool derivative that alot of people are allergic too, including my son. He had a reaction to Eucinex cream (Aquafor also has lanolin in it) and we ended up at the ER, they wanted to keep him, he was bright red everywhere and only 2 months old.

It will look fuller, for sure, and not to mention, it will look more natural than lipstick. :)

what you can do is apply a lip balm on your lips and smudge it out a bit. the shine will make your lips appear larger. You can also use products such as DuWops Lip Venom. The spices in it increase your blood flow and actually make your lips bigger. If you don't want to go out and buy something you can just put a dot of gloss or pale lip colour in the centre of your lips.

I haven't tried to make mine plumper for awhile, but I know Avon used to sell lipstick that seemed to help me some. I know it was probably about $5 for a tube of lipstick. But this was around 3 or 4 years ago.

For mouth tongue ulcers, a good remedy I have found is Listerine. It is not that expensive and it works really well. Best thing for mouth ulcers is Adcortil in Orabase. Ask the pharmacist for it. It clears them up completely, unlike Bonjela which just stops them hurting til they go naturally. You can use both though.
For lips - vaseline, carmex, Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream are all good, just keep reapplying and make sure you don't lick your lips as this will dry them out further.
For your ulcers i would recommend bonjela just keep reapplying it and they will dissapear.

I have a very dry lips, I even barely can wear lipstick. I'm using Vaseline Pure Petroleum Jelly but it only works for couple of hours. so any simple sugestions to have juicy lips all day long???Any simple solution for dry lips?

I have never heard of the reflective properties of lipgloss causing that effect, but it doesn't surprise me at all. However, SPF chapstick isn't a good way to go. I hate to freak you out, but some interesting info about the sunscreen industry over the past few decades is shedding light on these kinds of products, and while not everything is known about them, I've definitely read enough to think twice about putting such chemicals on my body!
There is a lot of research claiming that SPF in general is bad for you, whether it is present in regular sunscreen or in lip products, as in your situation. Some of the chemicals commonly used in SPF products proven to be harmful are benzophenone, octinoxate, cinnamtes and homosalate, all of which were found guilty of increasing the risk of cancer! Titanium dioxide, used in almost all SPF products, is the really scary one, though. After several hours on the surface of your skin, it seeps into your bloodstream and wreaks havoc there - not to mention its effects on the environment after it washes off your body and ends up in waterways, if you care about that sort of thing at all.
What can you do? A good option is to purchase zinc oxide (found at many health-type stores) and add it to any product that you wish to protect you from the sun, like lotion and maybe even your lipgloss. I think that it could possibly counteract the extra-strength UVA rays that the shininess is attracting. Remember, though, that at this point in time, nothing can block UVB rays, which are just as harmful.
Some of this might not seem relevant, but everyone should know.
Nah, shine doesn't attract the sun. You would probably want to refrain from licking your lips while wearing a chapstick with sunblock in it though. I can't imagine it tasting too good. :-/

Anything that can make my lips feel better?
I have a really bad habit of biting and picking at my lips. As many people may know, when you do that long enough, they get like the blistery scab-like-things on them.Well I was stupid enough to do that and give myself two of them. Is there anything that can make the swelling an what not go away? and a way to get me to stop picking at my lip? Thanks :)Anything that can make my lips feel better?
i have really chapped lips also that so i went to Tarte and picked up a vitamin E and sugar scrub lip balm,
one side is a smooth vitamin e glaze and on the other side on the vitamin e glaze is a part with brown sugar embedded on it so you put the vitamin e on, the turn it over and scrub away the dead skin with the sugar scrub and you can even lick the residue sugar off cuz its sugar....my lips have dramatically improved

-take a darker colored lip liner and shade in the corners of your lips with that,

-Dab a shimmery colored lipgloss in the middle of your lips to give it the illusion of that plump full lip :)
Those lip plumpers contain natural ingredients that plump your lips. I';m not sure if lemon and salt are included (although I would advise against that as you could really hurt yourself.) But I heard that cinnamon and cayenne pepper or anything spicy can also work. Also, lipliner and a lighter shade of lipstick can help. DOn't use dark shades, they make lips look smaller. FInally- SMILE. Nothing makes your lips look better than a natural smile :)
-Take 2 tsp. of melted coconut oil and mix in small amounts of the ginger and cayenne pepper (about 1/8 tsp each). These spices will give a little sting buy help to dilate the blood vessels in your lips.
-Add 1 drop of essential peppermint oil, which gives the gloss a cooling effect. Apply that on your lips. It's like an old-style grandma recipe gloss to plump up lips.
You can also use clove oil, I guess it's easier.
Putting a little powder foundation to your lips also make them look more pouty
You can make them appear thicker by makeup and not quirting lemon juice on them lol
Get lip liner about the same color or a shade darker than your lips (top and bottom)
apply right above your lips and all you need is a line- dont go crazy with it or youll look silly
add lipstick or color
gloss makes any lips stand out!

Rub your lips with an old toothbrush or rough flannel to take away dry skin. This will also bring blood to the surface, making them appear redder and more full.
Do it in the morning and night and apply vaseline or lipgloss afterwards just to moisturise.
